Our Story

At S&A Farms, our journey began with a simple frustration — we couldn’t find enough options for farm to table meat that we truly felt good about eating.

Living in urban areas, we were constantly searching for meat that was not only delicious and natural, but also raised in a way that aligned with our values. Too often, we found ourselves choosing between quality, transparency, and affordability — and it just didn’t feel right.

So, we decided to change that.

S&A Farms was born out of a desire to bring something better to the table. We raise our cattle using regenerative farming practices, focusing on animal welfare, soil health, and natural processes — no shortcuts, no unnecessary additives. Our beef is grass-fed, grain-finished, and thoughtfully produced to strike the right balance between health, sustainability, and taste. We make a commitment that our cattle will never pass through a feedlot or a major industrial process. They go from our farm, to a small local butcher shop, to your doorstep.

We’re here to give people a better option. One that’s rooted in transparency, sustainability, and a deep respect for the land and animals. Because we believe everyone deserves to know where their food comes from, how it was raised, and that it was done the right way.

Our Mission

At S&A Farms, we’re part of a new generation of farmers committed to raising high-quality, grass-fed, grain-finished beef in the communities we serve. Through regenerative farming practices, we focus on the health of our animals, the vitality of our land, and the long-term sustainability of our food system.

Our mission is simple: to provide nutritious, locally raised beef direct to consumers — in a way that’s both environmentally responsible and economically accessible for Albertans. By nurturing the land and caring for our animals the right way, we’re building a better future for food — one that supports healthy people, thriving communities, and a resilient planet.

Our Methods

At S&A Farms, the way we raise our cattle is just as important as the beef itself.

We never use growth hormones. Instead, we support our animals’ health naturally, focusing on nutrition, clean environments, and ethical care to keep them strong.

Unlike conventional operations, our cattle will never see a feedlot. They’re raised on pasture, finished on grain, and given the time and space to grow the way nature intended.

We follow regenerative agriculture practices that prioritize the long-term health of our land and ecosystem. Through methods like rotational grazing, reduced soil tillage, and diverse crop plantings, we protect soil health, reduce environmental impact, and give pastures time to recover and thrive.

We're not chasing maximum yield at the expense of the environment. Instead, we’ve dedicated sections of our land to rewilding — planting native trees and creating habitats that support local wildlife and biodiversity. It’s all part of our commitment to creating a balanced, sustainable farming system that works in harmony with nature. We have removed sensitive environments from production (such as riparian areas) and have planted over 30,000 trees on our farms in the last 6 years.
